Who goes first in Beethupferl?
Zoch English rules in multilingual booklet
The player who last ate a carrot starts.
If your rules call for a random choice, use the player picker.
Rule details
Players take turns; the English rules do not specify a clockwise or counterclockwise direction.
Before playing, agree on one of the two watering versions for everyone. Both use the same opening criterion.
The cooperative variant keeps the course of play apart from its stated changes to the shared objective and third-drop handling. It gives no different multiplayer opener.
The cooperative variant can also be played alone against the snails; solo play needs no first-player selection.
The competitive game can have more than one winner after final scoring. This is not a tie-break for the opening criterion.
If there’s a tie
The rulebook doesn’t say. If you need a tie-break, pick a player at random.
