Who goes first in Caylus?

Ystari Games English rules

One player takes everyone's turn-order markers and places them randomly on the numbered turn-order spaces; this sets the order of play for the first turn, starting with the player on space 1.

If your rules call for a random choice, use the player picker.

Rule details

Starting money depends on the random order: space 1 takes 5 deniers, spaces 2 and 3 take 6, spaces 4 and 5 take 7.

Later turn order changes when players place workers in the stables.

In the two-player game both players start with 5 deniers, turn order alternates at the beginning of each turn, and the stables are not used.

If there’s a tie

The rulebook doesn’t say. If you need a tie-break, pick a player at random.
