- Beacon PatrolThe most recent person to visit the sea starts. Play continues clockwise.
- BrewWhoever most recently brewed a cup of tea or coffee gets the first-player marker. Turns proceed clockwise from that player.
- CuBirdsRandomly choose a dealer. The dealer takes the first turn, and play proceeds clockwise.
- Dead Man's CabalThe last player to have raised the dead becomes the first Active Player and takes the Skull Draw Bag. If no one has performed necromantic magic recently, choose the first Active Player by another method.
- Dinosaur IslandWhoever most recently extracted DNA from an amber-trapped mosquito goes first. If nobody has done that, whoever most recently visited a theme park starts.
- Dinosaur Island: Rawr 'n WriteThe first player to come up with a punny dinosaur joke takes the first-player marker. If that proves difficult, choose a first player randomly.
- Dinosaur WorldThe player who most recently trained a raptor to respond to hand signals goes first. If no one has done that, choose the first player randomly.
- EmergeThe person who most recently visited an island is the first player and takes the First Player Anchor.
- Gods Love DinosaursThe player with the sharpest teeth goes first.
- Nacho PilePick the starting player at random and give them the bag of chips.
- Paper WorldWhoever used scissors most recently takes the first turn. Continue clockwise.
- The Fox ExperimentGive the first turn-order token to whoever has the friendliest pet, or choose that player randomly. Assign the remaining tokens clockwise.
- The GameIn a multiplayer game, each player looks at their hand, and the group agrees who goes first. Turns then proceed clockwise.
- UmbrellaThe player with the nicest umbrella at home starts. Turns then proceed clockwise.
- UnrestChoose who plays the Rebellion and who plays the Empire. The Rebellion acts first, choosing two adjacent Districts to target.
