- Bunny Bunny Moose MooseThe person who looks most like a moose is the first narrator. The rules also allow the group to choose the narrator however it likes.
- CodenamesThe key card determines the starting team: its edge indicators show that team’s color. That team’s spymaster gives the first clue.
- Codenames: DuetEither player can give the opening clue. The first player to find a good clue gives it and starts the game.
