Who goes first in Eldritch Horror?

Fantasy Flight Games English core rulebook

Players agree on one player to receive the Lead Investigator token. If they cannot decide, give it to a random player, for example by rolling a die.

If your rules call for a random choice, use the player picker.

Rule details

Starting with the Lead Investigator and going clockwise, each player chooses and places an investigator.

In the Action and Encounter Phases the Lead Investigator acts first, then play proceeds to the left; the Lead Investigator resolves the Mythos card.

At the end of each Mythos Phase, the Lead Investigator may pass the token to any player of their choice.

If there’s a tie

The rulebook doesn’t say. If you need a tie-break, pick a player at random.
