- A Game of Thrones: The Board Game (Second Edition)Turn order follows the Iron Throne Influence track: the House whose token is in position 1 goes first. Starting positions are set by each House's player screen during setup.
- AndroidWhoever has read the most science fiction books goes first.
- Android: NetrunnerThe Corporation (Corp) player always takes the first turn of the game. The Corp and the Runner then alternate turns.
- Arkham HorrorSelect one player at random to be the first player and give them the first player marker.
- Arkham Horror: The Card GameThere is no fixed first player. During setup the group chooses a lead investigator, and each investigation phase the investigators decide together who takes the first turn.
- Battlestar Galactica: The Board GameRandomly choose a player to be the first player and give them the current player token. That player chooses their character first and takes the first turn.
- Black GoldWhoever most recently filled their car with gas takes the market price die and starts the first round. If players cannot remember or prefer another method, the rules say to choose randomly.
- Black SheepEveryone moos; whoever makes the loudest moo goes first.
- Blue Moon CityThe group chooses someone to start, then takes turns clockwise.
- Cosmic EncounterIn the players' first game, the youngest player is the first player. Otherwise, reveal cards from the destiny deck until one matches a player's color; that player is the first player. Then shuffle the destiny deck.
- Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition)The hero players decide together which hero takes the first turn. All heroes take their turns before the overlord.
- Elder SignShuffle the chosen investigator markers and randomly select one. The player controlling that investigator goes first.
- Eldritch HorrorPlayers agree on one player to receive the Lead Investigator token. If they cannot decide, give it to a random player, for example by rolling a die.
- Fallout Shelter: The Board GameThe player who was most recently underground takes the first player token and goes first.
- Mansions of Madness: Second EditionThere is no set first player. In each investigator phase, the investigators each take one turn in the order of their choice.
- Marvel Champions: The Card GameAs a group, choose a first player and give that player the first-player token.
- Samurai (Reiner Knizia)The youngest player takes the first turn. Play then proceeds clockwise.

- Tigris & EuphratesChoose a starting player at random: place all players' unification tiles face down, mix them, and pick one. Play proceeds clockwise.
- Twilight ImperiumRandomly choose a speaker during setup. The speaker chooses the first strategy card; during the action phase, the player holding the lowest-numbered strategy card acts first.
